Youth Missions
Each summer, the Oakcrest youth and some of their parents have an opportunity to go on a mission trip.
Normally this trip is designated for all high school students 9th-12th grade and is partially funded by Oakcrest mission funds.
The mission trip in the summer of 2021 was to Boles Children’s home in Quinlan, Texas, where they relocated furniture to get homes ready for new residents, assisted in the teardown and cleanup of a shed, picked up limbs from around the campus, utilized lawn care equipment to keep the grounds looking clean, etc.
The mission trip in the summer of 2022 was to Huntsville, Alabama. Here our youth group along with the youth group of West-Ark Church of Christ in Fort Smith, AR assisted in the renovation/cleanup at the Lakewood Church of Christ, built relationships with the children and sorted clothes at New Futures, participated in yard work and ceiling tile replacement at the 8th Street Group Home, cleaned classrooms and painted the staircase at Lincoln Village, etc.
Short trips within Oklahoma are also planned for the junior high students 7th-8th grade. In addition, these funds made it possible for the Oakcrest Youth Group to participate in activities such as helping with VBS at the Christian Service Center and making a mission trip to Tennessee to aid in disaster relief efforts.
